Product details

  • SKU ZWO-ASI462MM

The ASI462MM Monochrome Planetary Camera uses the Sony IMX462 CMOS image sensor, which uses Sony STARVIS technology for better imaging performance in low light conditions.  The camera features 12bit ADC, low read out noise, and high sensitivity in IR, making it suitable for planetary, lunar, and solar imaging.

ASI462MM Icon Highlights

The Sony IMX462 sensor has a resolution of 1936*1096 with a pixel size of 2.9um. The IMX462 has a diagonal size of 1/2.8", with approximately 2.12M effective pixels. This sensor has a full well capacity of 11.2ke, and the body is equipped with a USB3.0 Port as well as an ST4 Port for autoguiding; both cables are provided. The USB3.0 Port provides 5Gb bandwidth to let the ASI462MM run at 136.1fps (10bit, high speed mode) or 63.9fps (12bit, normal mode) at full resolution.

DDR3 Memory on ASI462MM camera

The ASI462MM CMOS camera is equipped with built-in 256MB DDR3 memory to ensure stable and secure data transmission. Under long exposures, it effectively avoids frame dropping and greatly reduces the glow effect caused by slow reading speed.

Low Readout Noise & High QE

The ZWO ASI462MM is integrated with HCG mode, which can effectively reduce readout noise at high gain and allow the camera to maintain the same high dynamic range as it does at low gain. At gain 80, the HCG mode is automatically turned on; the dynamic range reaches a level close to 12 stops, and the readout noise can be as low as 0.47e.

QE value and readout noise are some of the most important specifications for astronomical cameras. High QE and low readout noise are essential to improve image SNR(Signal to Noise Ratio).
